This great State we live in, "The Last Best Place", is in fact one of the most dangerous places to live. Montana is home of the free, the brave and the drunk.
Law enforcement arrested over 7000 drivers who were under the influence of alcohol in 2007. This makes Montana the worst place to live in respect to Driving Under the Influence (DUI), per capita. According to Forbes.com, Montana ranks 1st in the nation in deaths by drunk drivers. Montana also recieved a failing grade from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in regards to the State's abiltiy to control drivers from driving drunk. In 2006, 48% of the traffic related fatalities in Montana were alcohol related.
Despite attempts by law enforcement to quell this serious problem, DUI's continue to increase everywhere. It is time to implement a new plan.
